Eyewear & Style: End-of-Year Trends
Some will say it's time for this painful year of 2020 to end. While the optical and eyewear sector has experienced numerous upheavals over the past several months, it's time for our annual review of eyewear trends for the end of the year.
Eyewear Trends: Styles that make a statement!
As summer drew to a close and autumn arrived, trends already observed at different times of the year became more pronounced. The rise in round shapes, seen over the past few months, was confirmed, though with a thicker appearance.
The proportions of the frames widened to give them more body . However, be careful when trying them on: they should not extend beyond the contours of the face.
For women, more than ever, bold geometric shapes are in vogue. To enhance personality, contours are pushed back, curves are redefined, and extremities are widened to accentuate the eyes.
On the men's side, we're also seeing more and more texture. After the minimalist and understated trends , color is making a welcome return. There's also a willingness to play with noble and elegant materials , like wood. And there's no hesitation in innovating, thanks to 3D printing , which offers limitless possibilities!
Focus on sustainability
What makes optical or sunglasses frames elegant is also their durability. The choice of materials is important. Even the traceability of a frame lends it credibility. To achieve this, we'll add yellow, green, and orange, sometimes very subtly, sometimes not so subtly. An example with these Etnia Barcelona models:
Texture is also being added. Patterns, already very trendy in 2019, are confirming their resurgence. Tortoiseshell, scales, and other patterns, once synonymous with eccentricity , are becoming increasingly common. A trend to be confirmed as winter approaches! And you, which trends do you want to highlight?
