50 years after its creation, the Silmo Paris, which will take place this year from October 6 to 9, is today the world's leading trade fair for optics and eyewear. To celebrate his birthday and warmly thank the entire profession, the organizers have concocted many surprises throughout these four days … We present them in this article!
Silmo Paris: an exceptional edition
Celebrated this year from October 6th to 9th, the fiftieth edition of Silmo Paris promises to be full of surprises. Among the novelties 2017: a birthday booth that will offer gifts to optics professionals aged 50 and / or born from October 6 to 9, a giant trend pop-up and ephemeral e-shop. Another surprise: the show will expand and gain 5% additional space, which will allow it to accommodate 136 new companies. In all, 958 exhibitors will be present, 22% French and 78% international.
Silmo Paris brings together thousands of optical professionals from around the world every year. No wonder, therefore, that his 50th birthday, which is also that of "the whole profession", in the words of its president, Amélie Morel , arouses so much emotion and effervescence in the sector. In half a century, the event has established itself as a true institution of optics , which offers its visitors every year more brands, creators and technical innovations, but also as a place of meeting between professionals.
The special price 50 years
To mark even more spirits, the organizers have chosen to celebrate, this year, Gold Silmo even more exceptional than usual. It is not 8 creators who will be rewarded, as in previous editions, but 10: Optical design, Solar design, Optical mode, Solar fashion, Vision, Low Vision, Equipment, Sport, Child and Technological Innovation. An award ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 7 at the Grand Palais de Paris, attended by 3,500 guests.
The jury will be chaired by a duo of designers, Livia Stoianova and Yassen Samouilov, head of the fashion house " We will have seen everything " . The house, which notably dressed Madonna during its participation in the Grand Journal in 2015, is famous for its boldness and humor, but also for the quality of the materials it chooses: pearl, mother-of-pearl or even articulated clothing.
A bright future … and international!
If the organizers of the Silmo Paris wanted to look after this fiftieth edition, they have not forgotten to look to the future. After Istanbul and Sidney, it is in Bangkok that the concept will be exported next year. Objective: to conquer even more the market of optics-eyewear Asian , always more dynamic and in full growth. The first edition will take place from June 20 to 22, 2010.
