After two years of absence due to the health crisis and a new postponement at the beginning of the year, the MIDO, Milan International Optical Fair, made its big comeback. A look back at this 50th edition.

Mido 2022: Grandiose and Cosmopolitan

Despite the obstacles, cancellations and postponements, the Italian show was able to bring together more than 670 exhibitors from all over the world (45 nationalities) and welcome 22,000 visitors. A great success in a context that is always uncertain for this type of event.

Open on a musical composition never before unveiled by one of the greatest Italian composers of all time, Ennio Moriconne, and entitled 'Infinite Visioni', the tone was set for three large-scale days.

The Mido offered its Bestore Awards, rewarding the most beautiful stores and original concepts. , the Bestore Design 2022 goes to the Indice store by Giovanni Comotti and Nicolò Plebani, located in Cortina D'Ampezzo, Italy Classic Vision Store in Mumbai (India), wins the Bestore Innovation 2022 and the Internet users' choice (Your Bestore ) went to a store located in Barcelona: Cottet Óptica y Audiologia.

A new award, the 'Stand up for green' award was presented to an exhibitor. Optician Good's for its use of sustainable materials in the construction of its stand. A great initiative to encourage exhibitors to minimize er their impact during the show.

An edition marked by innovation

In addition to presentations of new products by exhibitors, the heart of the show, visitors were treated to shows, conferences, a science and technology section, as well as a 'Lab Academy. ' The spotlight was given to innovation and the future of optics. The latter was presented as an "idea incubator, an exclusive space for companies, who deeply believe in designers and their creativity, a privileged place with a fresh and non-conformist atmosphere for all those who make originality their leitmotif and like to amaze by going beyond all limits ".

The final word went to President Vitaloni in these terms: " We had high quality visitors from all over the world, driven by the desire to do business and meet the actors of the supply chain. After celebrating the first 50 years, from today we are all writing a new chapter together ."

The next edition of Mido will take place from February 4 to 6, 2023.
