Partnerships between brands for a more ethical perspective
The question of ethics in the commercial sector is not new. Although operations are flourishing, there is still much to do. Lately, players in the optical industry have felt it necessary to join forces to strengthen the second life market, but also in solidarity campaigns. Overview of some of these operations.
Why partnerships for a more ethical perspective?
The second life market is still little highlighted. But with the social and structural problems of this beginning of the decade, it tends to develop, while that of the occasion exploded. It is still necessary, to get started, to have the technical, financial and human means necessary for the collection, the restoration and the sale.
This is where it all comes down to interest in a partnership. Common operations make it possible to unite skills in order to control all the stages of the process. The collection requires special logistics in order to collect as many frames as possible. These will then pass into the hands of an eyewear manufacturer for restoration and compliance. Finally, an online sales process adapted to the market will make it possible to sell as many of these frames as possible, which therefore benefit from a second life.
A process that also works for solidarity. Eyewear manufacturers recover frames, restore them and donate the profits to a non-governmental organization (NGO). Again, this is a great way to support a worthy cause.
Some optical-ethical operations
At the end of 2022, a few days before Black Friday, Optic 2000 and Veepee (formerly Vente Privée) joined forces to give their customers' glasses a second life. The principle ? Each member of Veepee obtained a voucher for 15 euros valid at Optic 2000 in exchange for sending a used optical or solar frame. A way to promote recycling programs.
Optic 2000 has also partnered for the long term with Sea2See by being the official point of sale for their frames made from plastic waste. recovered from the seas and oceans. Les Opticiens Ecouter Voir have launched a partnership with Les Restos du Cœur by collecting used frames and donating 1 euro per frame. The operation called "Solidarity Days" has even been renewed. Just like the one engaged alongside Harmonie Mutuelle, called "Harmonie Mutuelle Friday" intended for the collection of frames but also hearing aids. Participants also benefited from vouchers for eco-responsible products in their Economiser Voir store.
These partnerships are therefore a good way to raise public awareness since they allow a greater part of the population. If they also serve the interests of retailers, their good results guarantee a more ethical perspective.
